About Xylene

Buy xylene (C8H10, dimethylbenzene, mixed isomers, CAS 1330-20-7) from Alliance Chemical in ACS Reagent and Technical grades, available in quarts through 55-gallon drums. Xylene is a slower-evaporating aromatic hydrocarbon solvent used in paints and coatings, histology, degreasing, printing, and industrial cleaning.

Products In This Collection

This collection includes xylene in ACS Reagent Grade and Technical Grade. Product availability, package size, and shipping method vary by grade and destination.

Common Applications

  • Paint and coating thinner: Xylene thins and cleans up alkyd and epoxy coatings and is valued for its slower evaporation and strong solvency.
  • Histology and microscopy: ACS-grade xylene is used as a clearing agent and for deparaffinization in tissue processing and staining.
  • Degreasing and cleaning: Removes greases, waxes, adhesives, and coating residues from parts and equipment.
  • Printing and synthesis: Serves as a carrier solvent in inks and as a reaction and extraction solvent in laboratory work.

Grade & Selection Notes

Choose Technical Grade for industrial thinning, cleaning, and degreasing where trace impurities are acceptable. Choose ACS Reagent Grade for histology, laboratory, and analytical work that requires tightly controlled purity.

Safety & Handling

Xylene is a flammable liquid with harmful vapors. Use only with adequate ventilation, keep away from heat, sparks, and open flame, and wear solvent-resistant PPE. Segregate from strong oxidizers. Review the Safety Data Sheets before use and follow your site-specific handling procedure.

Why Buy From Alliance Chemical

Most in-stock xylene orders ship in 1-2 business days using DOT-compliant packaging. SDS and lot-specific COA support are available.
